WebNov 15, 2014 · This amplifier has all original transformers, original tag boards underneath, and is in beautiful shape. Output tubes are vintage Phillips EL509 with low hours. It was built by Leonard Electronics in Las Vegas NV to compete with the famous EAR 509 monoblocks. WebI may have been a little critical on the design and assembly quality of this amplifier, but when it comes to the sonics this amplifier is a winner. It was nice to have a 70 watt per channel unit available to properly drive my Green Mountain Audio Continuum 2 loudspeakers to concert levels with ease.

WebMay 12, 2024 · Those are such beautiful amps, but EAR is known to experience transformer hum. I owned a 50W stereo EAR power amp and it hummed. I sent mine in for service and the output transformers were replaced. The result was lower level hum. Put your ear to the transformers to check. Tubes don't usually hum, but it's possibly a power tube.
